How Saxophone Came To Be

This project was a storytelling website aimed at attracting a younger audience to the Musical Instruments Museum of Brussels. The idea was to make the museum’s collection feel exciting and modern, something that could resonate with people who might not typically visit. First I had to do some user research and then I had to choose an instrument to research its history to create an interesting content for my website. Once I knew I learned way too much about saxophones, I wrote down a copy for the website and the story was ready to become an experience. I iterated over my design on Figma many times to arrive at the end result. I worked on implementing scroll animations using GSAP to bring the story to life, creating smooth and dynamic transitions that made the experience feel interactive and engaging. I also experimented with an audio library for an interactive bit where users can create a saxophone tune with their name, adding another layer to the experience. This project came with plenty of challenges including a 3 week deadline for going from research to design to code.
